I am now a fan of Korean food. The owners Sunna is very nice & will often come out and visit with you. Plus they have a full bar & you can get Kimchee by the jar to go. I recommend trying this place.

My husband spent 8 years in Korea and really likes Korean food. He'd taken me to a couple of Korean restaurants in both Portland and Sierra Vista and I was not a fan. I love Thai and Indian and Vietnamese but the only way I was going to go to a Korean restaurant was to be nice to him. Then we went to Sunna's and I was hooked. I love their Kalbi. For a while, we ate there at least twice a month and then all of the sudden it wasn't good anymore. My husband kept getting his chicken bulgoki undercooked and the kalbi was just not good. I took Sunna's off my personal lunch rotation and if he invited me there for lunch, I would decline. About a week ago, I decided to give them another shot and I am happy to say that they are back to their delicious roots. The kalbi was great. The chicken was cooked through the six other people in our party enjoyed their dishes.

Phenomenal service! Came here a few months ago at the recommendation of a Korean friend. When eating at an asian restaurant, I always ask local asians where they eat. They restaurant is small and comfortable and the food piping hot and cooked as you like. The most standout feature of Sunna's is the level of customer service. Sunna makes it a point to come out, introduce herself, welcome you, and get to know the customer. She's obviously raised a very stellar young son who serves in the dining room. Her son has such polite genuine and genial manners that even other customers were complimenting him. He was able to provide recommendations and overall proved very knowledgeable on the food when we were trying to decide what to eat. They give you a Complimentary egg roll if you check in with Yelp. When I showed the son the offer, he offered to bring our entire party complimentary egg rolls - one for each of us. How nice! Overall, I gorged on the food and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you want fantastic service, they're great here!

Walked in and everything looked very clean. I asked her about my favorite plate at the Korean Restaurant I loved in El Paso, she said she didn't offer it but would make it. I thought crap, this isn't going to be good...boy was I wrong. Everything including the bulgogi pancake tasted amazing!!

Great food, great service and probably the nicest staff in Sierra Vista. Their beef bulgogi is to die for and I love the yaki mandu and spring rolls. I'm surprised this restaurant isn't packed 24/7. The food here is much better than at some of the more popular restaurants in Sierra Vista.

Rice was mushy in the bibimbop, japchae was mostly zucchini- almost no noodles, beef bulgogi tasted burnt and rotten, pork bulgogi tasted terrible, and the hot tea was luke warm. Maybe it was a bad day? Really nice waitress, plenty of sides, and free egg rolls.

Lunchtime it's packed! Only on server on staff. Took too long for server to attend to us. Had to leave due to time constraints.

The owner, Sunna, was not here today. I ordered the Tolsot Bibimbap and it had a ton of vegetables and not enough rice. The rice was not crispy, but mushy. Still tasted alright though but not spectacular as what I am used to. I also noticed that I did not get all of the side dishes they usually serve. I first thought they may have run out, but then noticed other tables getting the side dishes I didn't get. The ones I liked too! They got a new server....again. Seems to be fine but asked if I wanted a to-go box when I was still eating. Lots of flies in here today too. So annoying having to constantly shoo them away. The person a few tables down ordered the squid with rice and vegetables. He only had 3 pieces of squid and mostly vegetables. He asked to replace his dish with something else. The server kept asking him if he wanted to have it fixed. When he went back to the cook, he asked if he should not charge him for the squid order??? Really? Luckily the cook said do not charge and they would allow him to change his order. When the owner is here, you don't get these issues. At least I never had or heard of these issues before. As I was typing this , a fly landed on my cell phone. UGH!

There's something you've got to understand before I start this review. I've never had Korean food, and am only familiar with it from pop culture... an episode of a PBS cooking show here, and a video game reference there. So this visit to Sunna's wasn't just a meal for me; it was an education. Luckily, I had a great teacher; a friendly middle-aged woman who made helpful suggestions. I decided to try the number two, a meal of Bulgogi, along with Kim Bap as an appetizer. The meal started with a small but crispy spring roll, which tasted even better dipped in the soy sauce offered on the side. Okay, so far, so good! Then came the Kim Bap, which quickly brought the differences between Japanese and Korean cuisine into sharp focus. For those who don't know, Kim Bap is fundamentally similar to sushi, with rice tucked into a seaweed roll. However, instead of a sliver of raw fish, you get cooked beef. Also, the presentation is a bit more... creative, I think. While Japanese sushi is fairly uniform in shape, some pieces of the Kim Bap had thinly cut slices of carrot happily springing out of them. The main course illustrated one other key difference between the foods of Korea and Japan. Japanese meals are typically fairly modest in size, but if Sunna's is anything to go by, Korean portions are absolutely gigantic. The Bulgogi- thin slices of barbecued beef- was served with stewed cabbage, AND a generous amount of fried rice, AND eight different sides; typically slaws and vinegared vegetables. With all this food and seconds offered on the sides, I can guarantee you won't leave the table hungry. In fact, you'll be so full, you may not be able to leave the table at all! The restaurant was clean, quiet, and pleasantly decorated, without too much bric-a-brac on the walls. In fact, it may have been TOO quiet, as I seemed to be the only person dining there. However, with good food, warm service, and a diverse menu, this place should be seeing a lot more business. Give it a try if you love Korean food... or even if it's your first time.

Very nice service and fast. The waiter was professional and know his hob and the menu well. The only thing I didn't like, and this seems like an issue in all Sierra Vista, was the flies!

    (4)
  • Angela T.

So yummy. Past reviews said problems with flies but didn't have that problem. Waiter was great. Lunch gets busy. I highly recommend this place. I really liked my rib plate and my daughters Japanese noodles hit the spot. Sierra Vista has few good food spots. This is a must see.

This was the first time I had ever tried Korean food even though I love all other Asian cuisines. It was a Thursday evening 6pm when we arrived and there were two other parties there (a six top and a couple) We sat at what used to be a sushi bar. Han was the only server . Boy did this guy move. He was prompt, attentive and answered all of our questions about the various dishes with patience and enthusiasm. I have never seen a server work so fast and hard -all the while with a smile on his face. Ok. So let's talk about the food. All I can say is that Sunna (the chef and owner) put out some serious food . We had salmon and shrimp sushi which was prepared a bit different than traditional Japanese Sushi but still very good and fresh. I had the BBQ beef -1/4 inch beef tenderloin rounds (bone in) that was so delicious. Partner had the Teriyaki chix. Meals come with 8 small bowls of different Korean garnishes like kimchee, picked cucumbers, bean sprouts, etc. They also serve premium rice wine (which I imbibed and it was awesome!), sake , beers and premium spirits. We spent 1.5 hours there and Sunna twice came out to see how everything was and talked to us about the various dishes and a bit of Korean culture associated with the food. I can definitely recommend this restaurant to newbies and regular aficionados of Korean food. It was certainly a cultural experience and I will definitely return.

Following a local Sierra Vistonian's recommendation, we dined at Sunna's Korean Restaurant. Both the food and experience was outstanding! Tasty spread of ten small dishes of homemade Kimchi, etc was complimentary. Dinners, too, were wonderful and plentiful (have a cooler, or frig in your room, for the leftovers). NOTE: Sunna's uses NO MSG which is important because 1) you'll avoid migraines, etc resulting from this poison, and 2) it indicates quality ingredients (MSG biochemically tricks your brain into thinking crap is caviar). Oh yeah, almost forgot: Sunna and her staff are courteous, caring, and oh so welcoming.

This is the best Korean food I have ever tasted...clean, attentive and beat of all great food....had a buffet of kimchi to include kimbob ...and topped it off with bimbimbap ..yummy definitely come try yourself...

In a town resplendent with Asian cuisine, Sunna's is easily one of if not the best in Sierra Vista. I've always been hesitant to try Korean BBQ based on the fact that I was under the impression that it would be way too spicy for me. Finally, my husband insisted that I didn't know what I was missing and had to try it. We decided on this place because we just happened to see it as we were driving down Fry Blvd one night. Hoo mah gahd...their bulgogi was the greatest thing cuisine related to happen to me! I also thoroughly enjoyed the starters they would automatically bring to each table. Not only was their food absolutely fantastic but the service was great too. We ended up frequenting this restaurant and sometimes we would just chat with our server because he was so friendly, polite and easy to talk to. If I remember correctly, he was the son of the owner. I tried Korean BBQ after having moved away and was thoroughly disappointed. If it's not Sunna's, I don't want it. Can't wait to be back in Arizona so I can stop by again!

Awesome food and service. Great spicy pork bulgoki and the best Kalbi in town. The restaurant is super clean and well maintained. By far my favorite Korean spot in town and Sunna makes a point to say hello. Must go!

Awesome service from incredibly kind staff. I ordered the kalbi ribs and jjajang noodles. Good food with perks and my Togo order only took 15 minutes. Definitely coming back.

Every thing on the menu is very well, prepared. The kimchi is probably the best I have had. This is one of those hidden gems. But the best dish of all is the seafood stew. This is a Korean version of ciopinno and is GREAT. We try and stop by at least weekly. It's that good.

Hidden Gem! I had the Bim Bim Bap and it was delicious, hot, and served in a hot stone the way I like. It is hidden from the street but worth stopping in for a bite to eat. Coming from Hawaii, I never thought I would find a Korean restaurant out here as good but this place has won my business.

Always a great meal! The beef bulgogi is top notch. The kimshi soup is awesome. The Yaki Mandu is the perfect starter! if you like Korean food, you will love it after leaving here!

The service at this place is top notch. We were ordering to-go and were offered water, spring rolls, and she even turned the t.v. on while we waited. That is unheard of! We ordered the Beeg Bulgogi and Shrimp Fried Rice. Everything was delicious and their spring rolls are very delicious. The pricing is very affordable and you are getting a large portion. Compared to other places in town, I will pick Sunna's everytime from now on. We paid 26.07 with tax.

We came here a couple of weeks ago specifically for the dolsot bibimbap. The restaurant is located where an old rundown sushi place used to be. We usually go to another Korean restaurant in town but decided to try Sunna's. The dining room is small with a cozy feel to it. Our server (and I wish I had gotten his name) was friendly and helpful. There were a few other diners when we arrived and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. We ordered 2 rolls of kimbap for appetizers. They came quickly and they were delicious. My husband requested Obi beer and was told they didn't have any. Hmm, a Korean restaurant that doesn't carry Korean beer. They did have Kirin beer and a couple of other Japanese brands as well but they really should have at least one brand of Korean beer. Our server said they would try to get Korean beer in the near future. Anyway, our bimbimbap arrived sizzling in their stone bowls within 15 mins of ordering them. We also had plenty of kimchi and relishes to accompany the bibimbap. I prefer the rice in the bibimbap to be a little more crispy and so I let it sit in the stone bowl and sizzle away for a few minutes but it never got as crispy as I like. Also there was very little beef in the bibimbap (compared to other restaurants I've been to) which was fine with us since we like the fresh veggies and rice more but if you want more meat in yours, you probably should specifically mention it when ordering. Overall, everything was delicious tho and very filling. Service was great and our server was attentive without being obvious about it. I noticed that tables around us were cleaned quickly as soon as other diners left and the restroom was also neat and clean. (I hate it when restaurants have dirty bathrooms.) They had a tv on in the dining room that was turned to a news station (Fox News I think) but thankfully, it was turned down enough that we could have a conversation without shouting. This is a great place to eat. The food is good and the atmosphere is comfortable. On our way out I picked up a takeout menu. We will definitely eat at or order from Sunna's again!

Out of the three korean restaurants we have visited here in SV, we like this one the best. The food is better, the place is cleaner, and the owner is friendlier. This is the type of local place that I would expect to eat at for korean food. I've been to a lot of korean restaurants in small towns all across the country, and this one is definitely worth returning to. The last time I went, it was a party of four and everyone enjoyed it. They all said they would want to return. It is nice to have at least one place we can frequently go to.

Best Korean food around, tasted like the stuff I had in South Korea. Owner came out and spoke to our group, talked about the different side dishes she provides to the table (with any order). Small place, but clean and friendly. Would go back, great value and taste.

The good thing about spending time in an Army town like Sierra Vista is that you always have access to decent Korean food. I guess that is because soldiers have been marrying Koreans since the 1950's. Sunna's looks to be a fairly new establishment. I was in town about a year ago and if I remember correctly there was a run down sushi joint located here. Sunna's is a much better option. I had the Kalbi BBQ beef ribs. They come out on a sizzling platter with a bed of vegetables underneath. The ribs were deeply marinated and tender. Absolutely delicious. Plus I liked the way the vegetables cooked in the meat juices while you are working your way down through the pile of ribs. I also enjoyed the complimentary banchan and bowl of rice that come with the meal. They would have tasted good even if they weren't free but the lack of a price tag on it makes them taste even better. The only downcheck is that they do not have any Korean or Japanese beer available even though they have a full bar to include sake. Only Miller, Bud or Blue Moon for beer. What??? I had to enjoy my food with said Blue Moon. Just not the same.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in all of Sierra Vista. Judging by the Korean clubs and church groups that I see here, I know I'm not the only one. The service is good. Last time our waiter was the owner's son and another time it was a very cheery Korean lady. I asked the owner's son for help deciding between two dishes and he said they were both delicious... which they were! The perky lady talked me out of ordering the Seolleongtang (a type of beef soup). She said she wasn't sure I would like it because it's made of ox bones. I've actually had it before and it's great. I was touched by the fact that she wanted to make sure I knew what I was ordering and that she wanted me to enjoy my meal. The owner will usually make an appearance to ask how the food is. She's a sweet person and thanks you for stopping in. She also makes a point to remember you. Both time that I've been there, they've given us free sample of spring roll or mandoo. Nice touch. The banchan (small dishes of vegetables served with the meal) were great and they were happy to bring more when I asked. The kalbi is delicious. So is the bi bim bap and the soups are great on a cold day. Everything tastes like eating at my Korean friend's houses! Homemade and yummy!

The service is great here, but the food is horrible. It might be average for the Sierra Vista area, but in comparison to authentic Korean food or Korean food in California, the food here is just not up to par. The portions are large, but the skill and thought put into the dish is lacking.

So good. Portions and quality are excellent. Best spring rolls in town! Very authentic Korean. Simple as that.

This place is amazing. I was in town working for a few days and wanted to try it out. The waiter was extremely helpful in finding vegetarian options for my friend. He brought us all the little condiments to come with our meal and they were so good, especially the kimchi. My bi bim bop was right on. I would come back here any time if in the are again!

Sunna's is one favorite places to eat in Sierra Vista, I go there at least once a week. The food is always great and the staff is extremely courteous. Even more impressive is the fact that Sunna does all of the cooking herself, but still makes time to come out and greet her customers.

I could eat here almost every day. The wife and I were looking for someplace new to eat and literally stumbled across Sunna's. The restaurant is new, and a little spartan. But the food more than makes up for it. They started by bringing us a few complimentary mandu that were fresh, not frozen like some other places. My wife cant stop going on over the bibimbap and I dont think Ive ever had a better bowl of spicy kimchee stew. They have a full Korean menu as well as a number of Japanese items. Im looking forward to trying out the rest. The prices are very good and the food was excellent. Give Sunna's a try.

  • Becky M.

We thought the food was fairly good, the decor a little sterile. It was a little pricey for lunch ($11 seemed to be the starting point), but only because the value weekday lunch specials weren't available. The free spring rolls were excellent. We ate here at noon on a Saturday and the place was completely empty except for us. I'd return here and make better meal choices than California roll, dumplings, and soup the next time.

this place wasn't too bad. it recently opened and you could tell that it's a brand, new restaurant. the atmosphere was nice and owners were very friendly. here's what my fam ordered: dolsot bibimbap: it was delicious!! a lot of veggies and meat. spicy pork: mediocre taste. it was spicy..thats about it. seafood tofu soup: i wouldn't order this again...maybe im spoiled by the tofu restaurants in LA/SF. i would come here again for dolsot bibimbap....and thats about it. the price range wasn't too bad, $10-$15. definitely a restaurant that i'll recommend to friends.

Okay I gave them 4 stars at hubby insistence I would have gave a 3 personally. We had the Beef Bul go gi ,kimbap, on this day we got free spring rolls. My daughter had the Miso soup which she loved and said was better then "fish place" lol we went to a sushi place and she had soup there. When the plates come out you have grilled beef, steamed rice and some sauteed veggies. The beef has a nice grilled flavor to it which I found better then I have had before and the sauteed veggies are very good. The sides for me are not up to par. I like the sweet sides here you tend to get more spicy sides. Personally I would mix it up some with spicy potatoes and sweet cucumbers. Oh and a added point they don't charge for extra sides like another place hubby has tried. This is why I would give 3 stars, but hubby loves all the kimshi sides lol so is why he gave 4 lol. So I went with his stars out of fairness to a place that does have good food :). Service is friendly and everyone has always been very nice. The young lady who works up front can get busy but she is just zipping all over place trying to make sure everyone is happy so can't fault that now can Ya lol.

Very solid Korean food, swift service. It is not a terribly authentic Korean place but it could rocket right back up to a 5-star Korean restaurant with the addition of traditional in-table grills (preferably using charcoal "ondol style" blocks). Still a great place for lunch with a lot more room to breathe than the other Korean options in town. Highly recommended. Try the Kalbi or the Samgyupsal.

Over time, Sunna's became my fave Korean spot in town. Everything seems bigger, brighter and with more flavor.

Hidden Gem! I had the Bim Bim Bap and it was delicious, hot, and served in a hot stone the way I like. It is hidden from the street but worth stopping in for a bite to eat. Coming from Hawaii, I never thought I would find a Korean restaurant out here as good but this place has won my business.

This is my favorite place to eat for lunch. Very reasonable lunch prices and the customer service is awesome!! Sometimes I eat here 2-3 times a week. The best Korean food in the Sierra Vista area! Definitely a winner.
